Teach people to Teach

Two weeks ago, we shared our 2012 focus on two philosophies: the first is Meet People Where They Are, which we wrote about last week; and the second is Teach People to Teach, which is our topic this week.  So what does it mean to Teach People to Teach, and why is it so important?

If you want to build a business that doesn’t rely on you for it’s survival, you must take on the mindset that you’re better off having a team of Teachers, than a team of Salesmen. Although, we often get really excited when we have a super sales person join our team. Why is that?

We expect that a talented sales person would be able to take-off and run with the business, with little or no motivation from us, and let’s face it…it gets old trying to motivate people. The problem is, a talented sales person who starts a new challenge group every month for 6 consecutive months will generate about 8,000 PV, and they will do most of the work themselves. This means that you may have a great volume-producing coach, but it doesn’t grow much past that person.

What if you adopted a mindset of creating a team of Teachers who learned to meet people where they are? You invest in teaching them to become a teacher of teachers. Let’s say you focus on sponsoring two teachers a month, and helping them. In the course of 6 months with each Teacher committed to developing two new teachers, you would have created over 96,000 points!

I hope you can see why we are so passionate about our Teach people to Teach philosophy. But, it’s not just about points- it’s about empowering a team to grow on it’s own.

Here are two million-dollar questions:

  1. What response would you get if you asked your personally-sponsored coaches to teach you, what you taught them?
  2. How many of your PS coaches are building a team that grows more than one level below them? When we asked ourselves that question, we had a huge “A-ha!” moment. The only way this happens is to have a system that is easy to teach.

So that’s what our next article is all about: The System!

Our hope this week is that you give some thought to how you can become a great teacher, and build a team of amazing teachers.

Love Bug: Pass It On!

Be Your Best!February is the month for celebrating those we love. However, we decided that we are going to spend this month finding ways that we can pay our love forward to those who need it most. Every week in February, TeamTalk will suggest new ideas on how you can give the gift of love and keep the spirit of Valentine's going. Here are three ideas to get started:

  • Volunteer for Valentines: There are so many organizations out there that need your help. Donate your time at a local soup kitchen, animal shelter, or favorite nonprofit, or offer to tutor a child in reading or math. You can find plenty of opportunities on VolunteerMatch, or check your local college campus or church for organized events.
  • FUNdraising: If you're taking that special someone out for a pricey dinner, why not have your bill go to a good cause? Check your newspaper or online city pages for Valentine-themed fundraisers that support local nonprofits. Or better yet, throw your own event and donate the proceeds to charity.
  • Homemade Hearts: Deliver homemade Valentine's cards or heart-shaped cookies to the sick, the elderly, or the homeless. Call a local children's hospital, domestic violence shelter, or nursing home and ask how you can help.

Just Say No! Cheat Sheet

Say No! to Processed Foods
When trying to eat clean, here are some things that you should steer clear of to ensure that you are feeding your body only the best:

  1. Processed Foods or Beverages: Try to enjoy foods in their purest form. Artificial ingredients make the body work overtime.
  2. Added Sugar: It leads to weight gain, but on top of that, it's processed and has zero nutrients.
  3. Dairy: Studies show that it can be the cause of sluggishness, digestive upset and inflammation.
  4. Gluten: This protein that is often found in wheat, barley, and rye can cause you to feel bloated, tired or moody.

TeamGenesis Builders Group

Last week we focused on setting Goals and what your perfect day might be.  If you haven’t had a chance to do that work yet, click here to view that worksheet.
This week we focus on the Beachbody Coach Compensation Plan and how to get the most out of the earning opportunity.

TeamGenesis Leaders Groups

We continue to focus on our System and how we can get a clear focus on what it is, and how we teach it to others. This week we will release a first draft of the system we are building, for an open discussion. Please give some thought to what your PS coaches experience in their first 30 days. What are they learning to teach? Come to the call prepared to share.
